Chapter
Twenty-One
I had to do something to get Antonio potty trained and soon. The girls were about two when I got them to go to the pot, but I was unable to convince Antonio to sit on the pot. He would keep getting up even after the smack on the leg I would give him. I really didn’t have time for this. I was still working this swing shift and tired out most of the time. I needed him to just do what was necessary. My mom and dad had my kids more than me which made me feel like less than a mother. I was making good money and trying to support them and was not able to be in every place all the time and have time for me. My mom was great with the kids and since she was working first shift, she had time to watch them while I worked. On days we both had to work first, my dad would take over the duties. Antonio was a handful though and going through his terrible twos and he was requiring lots of spankings. It was great I had the twins to help him out.
It was really hard trying to do this all by myself. Anthony had moved out three months after Antonio was born. I was tired of the go around and knew that he was up to something and that he and Amy were working their way back to each other. Amy had continued to call the whole time Anthony was living with me even when the kids were not visiting. Anthony was coming home later and later from work. Their conversations were getting longer and longer every time they talked and he made up excuses to be in Springfield on the weekends. He was by my side when Antonio was born and there to hold my hand, cut the umbilical cord and signed the birth certificate. I had given him a son and I was hoping this would change his attitude and make him want to stay since I was starting to see him stray. Before I had Antonio we had talked about how much back child support he owed for Mariah and Melody and I told him that I would get the arrears removed since it wasn’t making sense with us being in the same household, but I did not stop the weekly payments since I was not asking him to provide for the girls. We were going half on rent and bills but I was still buying all the food and clothing for the twins. I was starting to think getting the arrears removed was all he really wanted out of me.
After I had Antonio, my patience got shorter and shorter with Amy calling my house with her excuses and I told Anthony I was not willing to allow this, and unless it was an emergency there was no reason for her to call just for him to say goodnight to the kids. He acted like he would handle the situation and that it was no big deal to stop this from happening.
